It certainly takes a lot of training, determination, and time to prepare for a triathlon. In simple words, there are no shortcuts. However, there are certainly a few tips and tricks that can help you perform better and better. If you are training well, but don’t feel like you are doing enough, maybe all you need is to know a few tips.

Performance tips for athletes of triathlon

  • Keep things simple

Yes, the first and foremost thing that you have to do is don’t unnecessarily do complicated workouts. Keep your focus on the major muscles and give sufficient time to the smaller ones too. Remember, it is not important how many items like free weights, kettlebells, resistance bands, etc. You use. The only thing that matter is your consistency in training your muscles. 

  • Work on your glutes

To ensure you don’t face any running injuries, you must have a strong butt. It is best if you work with a coach to determine, which strengthening exercises are better for you. 

  • Don’t work out to show your strength

The entire purpose of exercising for an athlete is to gain strength not show it off. So, the next time you are hitting the gym, don’t focus on how much you are lifting, just make sure you are doing it right. 

  • Correct your posture

When you are in the water, you must maintain the correct body position. For this, you must get comfortable in the water. So, don’t simply practice all the swimming drills out there, instead practice a few to improve your game better. 

  • Take time to rest

It is not about taking a break from the training, but about regaining the energy. You will not be able to think or perform better if you are constantly training without break. Your body and mind need time to rejuvenate. So, give due importance to your rest days and rest weeks. 

  • Set small goals

Surely the ultimate goal is to win the race, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Try setting small goals and work hard to achieve them. Live in the present and keep on doing what you have to, surely successes will add up. 

  • Prioritize better

Just like other people, athletes have priorities too. Define what is your priority – friends, family, work, etc. Once you have it clear, you will be able to manage your training hours more efficiently.

Last but not least, keep on stretching. This will give and maintain a range of motion. Keep in mind, it is not possible to enhance your power or strength without a proper range of motion.
